THE STORY
WE WANTED TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
In the autumn of 2024, Olivia Bond and Kurt Machlachlan met for coffee in central London after connecting on LinkedIn. Neither had worked together before, though they had mutual connections on the periphery of their own networks. It was in their nature to say yes to catch-ups like this; both knew the importance of getting out in the real world and talking to people in person.

Both Kurt and Olivia had taken non-linear paths to get to the current stage of their careers. Kurt, owner of MOTUS VFX, was always entrepreneurial and willing to take risks. Olivia, VFX Producer and New Business Manager at The Flying Colour Company, describes herself as a creative who has been fortunate enough to learn about the business from the inside.

They realised quickly they had a lot in common, and the conversation turned from career journeys to industry observations. They, like many in VFX, had noticed a decline in real-world connections following the pandemic and a sense of disillusionment with the current state of the UK film and TV industry.
They also discovered they had many friends and colleagues outside of VFX who shared similar sentiments. Both kept throwing names on the table of people they thought the other would benefit in knowing, and one thing was clear: those people weren't just limited to VFX. They were spread across creative industries, in a variety of roles, but all had one thing in common - they were ambitious, proactive, had great reputations, were big-dreamers, open to new experience, always trying to learn and grow, and were taking action to do so.

Imagine if we could get all those people in a room together?

And what might happen if we went on a quest to find more people like that? What if we opened the borders between creative industries and mingled? What if we could get composers, actors, editors, publishers, entertainment lawyers and accountants, camera operators, podcasters, all in one place...

Let's do it.

And after weeks of further discussion, and hashing out exactly what a group like this could look like, function like, and offer - Creative Partners was born.

The mission is simple, but bold: bring ambitious, action-oriented individuals together. Foster a community where they can share insights, build trust, and ultimately, help each other achieve their goals. A network of future leaders in creative services, spanning all disciplines, united by a shared vision for success and a love for art in all its forms.
